About Joviette Bitter

Hi, I'm Joviette. I have spent more than 20 years teaching and caring for young children, and cooking has always been part of it.
I studied health education and nutrition at William Paterson University in New Jersey. After teaching two-year-olds as a head teacher in Bethesda, Maryland, I founded and ran my own home daycare in Ontario, Canada, for 15 years. Every day I cooked homemade hot lunches and snacks for the children. One little girl, after she had moved on to school, asked for my spaghetti and meatballs as her birthday wish.
Today I teach preschoolers in St. Johns, Florida. In my classroom we weigh fruits and vegetables, test what floats or sinks, watch apples turn brown, and plant beans to see them grow. Children learn best with their hands, their eyes, and their noses, and a kitchen is the best classroom for that.
Spoons & Sprouts brings it all together: real cooking, real learning, and healthy food that tastes good, made by the children themselves, in your own kitchen.
